Project Anything:

Presentations About Unlikely Topics

The goal of this project was to showcase my incredible presentation skills, even with the most obscure topics, and generate interest/following in the series along the way.

The Setup

With the success of the precursor to this project, I decided to expand on the series while using AI to supplement a lot of the creative process. Using LLMs, I had the concepts and scripts developed, added my own touches, then I filmed my pitches and edited the 2 presentations to be posted to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube.

The Launch

Once I had my videos, I followed a launch schedule of 1 video a weeks across 3 platforms for 2 weeks. On Wednesdays I dropped my horizontal/original cut on YouTube, then on the following Friday I dropped the vertical edits onto TikTok and Instagram Reels. These posts were accompanied by AI-generated captions and promo posts.

The Metrics

As of 12.02.24, my YouTube Videos received little traction, TikTok deleted my second of the 2 videos and the first didn’t go far either. However, on Reels, the pair of vids reached a combined total of 2,750 views. These reels reached 5% & 3% engagement (respectively), while also garnering additional acclaim in person from peers.

The Reflection

While I had not reached the goals I had originally set out (5% increase in engagement week/week, 7% growth), I still exceeded my initial expectations, and was wrong in my understanding on what success would look like. I still dropped some entertaining content, expanded my creative skills, and gained a large number of impressions overall.

The Learning

Something I should have done differently was maintain a fair scope for both the deliverables and metrics, which would have come with having done better quality research/planning.

I would also suggest to anyone looking to replicate this project to not rely on AI to substitute your own creativity if you (like me) care about sharing your voice. AI has its place in work, but it can’t replicate that human element we crave.
